Player Commitments & Club Rules

Rule One: Practices

All players should bring a ball to the weekday practices.  A size 4 ball is used for U10-U12 teams and a size 5 is for U13 teams.  DCYFC will have a limited number of balls available in case players forget to bring it.

DCYFC practices and game days have precedence over any other athletic event.

Do not wear any practice jersey that displays the name of another local club.

Rule Four: Game Conflicts

The player shall not play in another soccer match prior to a DCYFC scheduled match on the same day.  If a player is discovered to have played in an earlier match they will sit out the next DCYFC match.

The player is obligated to attend the DCYFC practice or game if there is a schedule conflict.

Rule Two: Jerseys

DCYFC players should make every effort to wear the training jersey to practice and games.

Players shall bring both to the game in case of color conflict with the opponent.

Do not wear game jerseys to practice.

Rule Five: Night Before Game

We strongly urge players not to have sleepovers the evening before a match.  As all parents recognize, it is not conducive to a good nights rest.  It results in less than 100% effort and performance on the field the following day.

Rule Seven: Advice to Parents

Parents should watch the match on the opposite sideline from the team bench.

DCYFC wants to continue its solid reputation in DC and beyond the City limits.  Therefore, we strongly encourage parents to be a positive force and influence on the sidelines.

Please refrain from sideline coaching your son, daughter or another player on the team.  Do not distract players with additional advice. These young players players when coaches say one thing and sideline commentary says another.  The coaches want every player to focus exclusively on the coach prior to the match and listen to their instructions.

Our families should try to sit back, enjoy the beauty of the game and be a positive and supportive fan.

Rule Three:  Game Time Arrival

A player shall arrive 45 minutes before each game to warm-up, train, familiarize and adjust themselves to the field, weather and prepare psychologically for the game.

Rule Six:  Pre and Post Game

DCYFC expects every player at the half and at the end of the match to hydrate and reconvene immediately with the coach to discuss what transpired.  Let the DCYFC coaches manage the game from the time the player arrives 45 minutes prior to kick-off till 5-10 minutes after the match.

Rule Eight: Game Attendance

Unless sick, injured or out-of-town, players are not expected to miss more than one game per season.  Two games is equivalent to 25% of the season.

If you miss 2 or more games in a season, the coach and DCYFC staff will discuss the situation to determine if the player is fully committed to the team and club.
